We come from MasterCard, Lucent Technologies, Avaya Communications, Microsoft, Nissan, Invensys, Aspective, GEC Marconi and IBM.
Shahbaz Ali
Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Shahbaz Ali is Founder of Tarmin Technologies. Goal-Oriented Executive and seasoned entrepreneur with demonstrated success, Shahbaz has over 16 years of experience in bringing ground breaking technology solutions to new markets.
Prior to founding Tarmin, Shahbaz served as Director of Banking Systems at Mondex International acquired by MasterCard International (NYSE:MA). At MasterCard he was responsible for overall digital content and archiving strategy and led the online content retention initiative. Prior to that Shahbaz served as the Director for FIFA World Cup Communication project, working on the design of highly scalable unified storage software solution for the entire communication of the FIFA World cup.
Shahbaz’ past engagements include management positions with Invensys Corporation, Lucent Technologies, Avaya Communications, Marconi and Aspect Communications. Shahbaz has completed the key part of the Industrial PhD and is a first class graduate in Software Engineering from Southbank University of London.
Eric Herzog
Vice President of Sales and Marketing
Before joining Tarmin, Eric Herzog was VP of Marketing and Operations at Asempra Technologies. His responsibilities include overseeing all worldwide product marketing, channel marketing and corporate communications. Herzog has over 20 years of marketing and sales experience in the storage software and storage systems hardware markets. He has managed all aspects of marketing and sales in both start–up and large corporate environments. Prior to Asempra, Herzog was vice president of product line management for desktop and mobile storage, vice president of worldwide channel marketing, and vice president of corporate communications at Maxtor (recently acquired by Seagate Technology). Prior to Maxtor, Herzog was vice president of marketing and business development for ARIO Data Networks (recently acquired by Xyratex) and vice president, business line management for OEM subsystems and controllers at IBM, where he held P&L responsibility for a business line generating over $200 million in revenue. Herzog has held vice president positions in marketing and sales at Topio (recently acquired by Network Appliance), Zambeel, and Streamlogic. Herzog holds a B.A. degree in history from the University of California, Davis, where he graduated cum laude, studied towards a M.A. degree in Chinese history, and was a member of the Phi Alpha Theta honor society.
Karl A. Edwards
Vice President of Business Development
A seasoned technology sales executive, Karl Edwards comes to Tarmin with over 18 years experience specializing in complex IT deployments. A keen negotiator, Karl won widespread acclaim for successfully negotiating complex arrangements between the UK office of E-Government and partner suppliers under the Framework agreement for the Government Secure Initiative (GSi), which he oversaw while a Manager at Cable and Wireless, the lead contractor for the project. As Vice President of Business Development for Europe for Tarmin, Karl oversees all of Tarmin’s EMEA sales initiatives, including, 3rd party channel and partner relations. Prior to joining Tarmin, Edwards oversaw System Integrator relationships for Cable and Wireless’s Public Sector programme, working on such intitaives as eBorders, Census and Identity. Karl is a graduate of Leeds University Business School.
Steve Simpson
Vice President of Engineering, Co-Founder
Steve Simpson is Co-Founder of Tarmin and has been instrumental in the development of the core Tarmin technologies. Steve has over 25 years of experience in the IT sector managing and developing technologies including storage, security, distributed file services, information management and cryptography. Most recently he was Project Manager for Nissan Auto Manufacturing (UK), where he was responsible for high volume online dealer management systems. Prior to that he was at Mondex International where he architected EMV based “Chip and Pin” technology.
Steve is a Chartered Engineer (CEng). Steve holds an MSc in Technology from University of Edinburgh and BSc (Honours) from Leicester University.
